Amazon Adds Accssibility Upgrades To Some Kindle Hardware
For years, blind and visually impaired people who wanted to use a Kindle were left with a lot of frustration and even hassle. Amazon released their Kindle readers with only the barest of text to speech. Amazon did make their apps on iOS and Android accessible but only after significant push back from the visually impaired community. That, however, looks like it’s going to change. Recently, Amazon has announced, publically, that they are bringing VoiceView to their Kindle e-readers, starting with Kindle Paperwhite, so that visually impaired customers can enjoy reading on Kindle devices.
Why Social Autopsy Is Bad for the Internet and Cyberbullying
Technology and the Internet are constantly evolving and connecting others to people, information, and opinions. With all of the good the Internet has presented, however, the negative corners of the web are also adapting to how the Internet is growing. With every advancement in technology, there’s a new way harassment could happen. This is why, when starting an anti-bullying project, creators should be very aware of the environment they are wading into. Social Autopsy is the new tool that’s aiming to help with online bullying and harassment. It aims to be a database of every mean thing you’ve ever said online. It sounds like a good idea, on the surface.
Wall Sockets
A writer struggling with an idea for an article enters a café that’s full to capacity. The song of the year, before it is replaced, squeals out of unseen speakers overhead. I make my way towards a lounge area where other people congregate, all just as homeless and connected as I am. Bodies are hunched over laptops, their brains exuding electrical exile. Various white battery charger cords as long parasitic worms are fed into the walls, leaving spaghetti patterns on the floor, each socket stuffed and sucked. My laptop is dying. I can feel the hollowness and fear in my marrow.
I Miss Blink Nation
I’d just like to take a short trip down memory lane for a bit because it’s a bit freezing tonight and there isn’t anything good on Blindy TV at the moment. For the sighted people, you may want to skip this post because the soap box that I’m about to go on won’t make any sense to you guys, just kidding.
